UTurn Privacy Policy

At UTurn, we believe privacy is a fundamental right. That’s why our app is built with privacy-first principles. We don’t collect your messages. We don’t serve ads. We don’t sell data — because we don’t have it.

This Privacy Policy explains what limited information we handle, how we protect it, and your rights as a user of the UTurn app.

What We Don’t Do

Let’s start with what we don’t do:

  • We do not collect your personal messages. One-on-one chats are end-to-end encrypted and can only be read by you and the person you’re chatting with.

  • We do not store conversations on our servers. Once messages are delivered, they are not retained.

  • We do not track you, profile you, or monitor your activity.

  • We do not collect metadata that can identify who you communicate with or when.

  • We do not serve ads or share your data with third parties.

What We Handle (Minimal and Purpose-Limited)

To make UTurn work, we process only the information needed for functionality — and nothing more:

  • Email Address: Used for account creation, login, and security verification. We never share it.

  • Discovery Location (Connect Feature): When you enable Connect, we temporarily process your location to show nearby users. Your location is not shared once discovery is turned off.

  • Profile Info: If you add a photo, nickname, age, or a short introduction, this will be visible to other users in Connect or chats — but never outside the app.

  • Device Info: Basic device and OS data may be used for bug fixing and to improve app performance.

You can always disable discovery, delete your account, or update your profile from the app settings.

Security

UTurn is built to protect your privacy with strong security at every level:

  • End-to-end encryption for one-on-one chats.

  • Encrypted transmission for group messages and Connect chats.

  • No message storage on our servers post-delivery.

  • Local device storage for message history.

  • Independent chat system for Connect conversations.

Age Requirements

  • UTurn may be used by individuals under the age of 16 or 18 depending on their country’s laws.

  • However, the Connect feature is restricted to users who meet the local minimum age requirement for in-person social interactions (typically 16–18 years old).

  • Users must confirm their eligibility before enabling Connect.

Your Rights

Because we don’t track or retain sensitive data:

  • You can delete your account at any time via the app.

  • You control what you share, including optional profile information and whether to participate in discovery features.

  • No personally identifying usage data is stored or sold.

Changes to This Policy

We’ll notify users if any major changes are made to our privacy practices via in-app messages or on our website. We encourage you to check this page from time to time.
